Shu ba bap King doin dong boom bam.

Well it looks like Friday is gonna be the day that will be closest to a day in school.  I start at 9 am and have lunch actually at lunch time, then back for a lecture till 4pm.  The day starts off with a practical ensemble session, where we have singing lessons, learn about different instruments, how they're played.. we sing as choirs and perform as groups, and it's stimulating for the brain at that time in the morning!  Next semester, we will be forming Gamalan ensembles and steel drum ensembles!  We look at alternative methods to scoring, and how we each interpret them from a performance view point.  It's all quite exciting.  my lecturer seems to have some form of agressive attacks and swears randomly and loudly at people.  He himself seems to find it entertaining.

I've just finished my second lecture, which was styles and trends, and course work includes and essay and a post modern composition.  I'm thinking of fusing jazz and orchestral, with beefy beats and pop singing.  That should be a bit of a challenge :)

I'm now scoffing left over rice, veg and cheese, which is actually really nice lol.  Next I actually have a composition session. Woop!

HAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!!!!

I'm in such a GREAT mood!!!!  I've had a day off, so FULL with just composing and singing and more composing and singing.

My head is filled with memories of Helen, and she'll find out soon! (hehehehe I'm evil)
I've got a grin the size of a cheshire cat after talking to Thomas, a nice phone call from my dad, and finishing off this thing that fills my head up with thoughts of Helen!  HAHAHAHA!!! (having one of my very violent giggling fits, it's a wonder (bra) I can type, let alone breathe lol yar har har!

Tu tu and such likes!  sleep well world, the stars do shine and I'm so elated I might actually fly to the moon and back tonight! :D

Stars, Music, Imagination, Dream...

Sleep tonight, everything will be alright,
Sleep tonight, good night..

Sleep tonight, sleep with the stars tonight,
Sleep tonight, good night..

jeeeeeeezzzeeee!

Another bloody deafening fire alarm.  Right smack in the middle of recording vocals into a great track.  *sigh* (nothing was on fire)

Well what an eventful day it's turning out to be! I'm back in my room for another hour because my first lecture was moved to 11:30 instead of 1:00, but they forgot to tell us. lol

Techniques and technology anyone?

So I've just had my first lecture, next two - 4 till 7.

It made me smile when I sat down, to see the USB box was bright green and just like the one back in the studio :)  First lecture on the history of sampling - really interesting and I took 5 pages of notes, all of stuff I had no idea about, (like the first sampler machinery and the fact that Les Paul was the first guy to create the multi track tape recorder) until he was talking about the 70s onwards.  I'm one of only 5 people that have seen logic pro 8, let alone used it, and the next three lectures are all practical, learning the basics of logic and sampling.  My tutor was a guy I hadn't met yet, and he was really nice, took time to answer questions and explain everything fully, and I really enjoyed it.  Crazy to think that all my lectures are on music, and I can't wait to explore just some of the many topics I have to study here.  No more RS, unless it envelopes the subliminal political and religious messages put forward by Steve Reich through his method of tape loops. :)  I'm now gonna scoff some lunch then copy up my notes, download the presentation and head off to my next lecture on engraving. :)

Nice To See You, To See You...

What a weekend.  Of the kind of weird crazy kind that your brain tells you didn't actually happen.  So both Mr. S and Thomas were over, and I first met up with them in TK Maxx down the road.  I just wanted to leap at both of them, but as usual some unknown force holds me back.  I was so happy to see them, it was like the first time on ichat, when I just couldn't stop smiling.  We then walked back up to campus, where I showed them round, and after that I continued with the last lectures of induction week.  Now knowing where to go, they picked me up in the car at about fourish and we drove along to St. Albans... not much there but quite a pretty town, ending up in TK Maxx to find Thomas a velvet jacket, but in the end, he got a really nice pin striped jacket that really suits him.  For some reason there also seemed to be rather a lot of lingerie in shop windows, and also signs for viagra and hair loss shampoo. lol.  And that was the town centre haha.
They then treated me to a very nice meal at Bella Italia, and we ended up watching Big Fish to end the evening off.

Saturday proved even more adventurous.  The first text I received was "our hotel is on fire" (and Thomas' socks hehe), but I couldn't reply, so it was slightly worrying.  I met up with them for the open day, following them to various talks and finding out some information I didn't know!  I even got to look round the studio, which I haven't been able to see yet. :)
I also fell asleep on a sofa out side one of their talks that lasted about two hours (!).  After that, we spend ages trying to decide what to do with our day, and ended up going to Stevenage...  It was a yet another great day out :)   I wasn't expecting to have another meal paid for me, but they took me out again this time to Frankie and Benny's for another lovely meal (thank you so so much).  I don't actually think I stopped laughing once for every moment spent with them, and it showed me that lunacy is definitely lacking in my life over here.  Which sucks (big monkey bum poo).  Again, we ended up watching a film, this time Edward Scissorhands, my favourite film ever.  I then got taken home, and as soon as I started to walk away, the tears came once more.  Wow did I cry hard... they're leaving tomorrow. :(

So tomorrow came, and here I am.  As they drove away, I waved for as long as I could see them, and when they were half way down the road, the tears started coming again, and once out of sight, they flowed out even harder, and I'm sure it must have been a sight for the security guards, to see a student in the middle of the street bawling her eyes out, practically sitting on the wet floor with her head in her hands.  So many words to say, but not enough air to say them it would seem.  My brain just seems to melt, along with the words trapped inside.  Ten weeks.  That's not that long, is it.  I just miss them so so much.  A great weekend, greater than greatness itself.   Harder and harder and harder to say good bye, time please just stop.  A scene in Big fish is perfectly true.  You wait such a long time for such a great moment that you never want to let go of.  When that moment comes, time seems to stop, but then it moves at extra high speed to catch up with itself, and it's as if you dreamt that moment, it hasn't actually happened yet.  But in fact, it has.  But after all its not good bye really, is it?  See you in a few weeks.  TTFN, ta ta for now.  I'm just so glad I actually got to see them.  For see you in ten weeks is better than see you in eleven. :)

Goodnight...

Boy, I'm mighty tired!  Got a song revloving round and round my head, a rather energetic multi cultural kinda irish dance piece I'm in the process of writing.  My heart has been racing for the whole of today and I have no idea why, how strange.

I had a great day yesterday, going on ichat for the first time, and seeing some friendly faces that made me smile from ear to ear.  I love technology, and I indeed love my mac!  I have endless arguments with my house mates (who are computer scientists) about which is better, a PC or a Mac.  (Lyle, stop arguing) Macs are just so much better, full stop.

So what a great day... that was until three am, when it felt like I had just managed to fall asleep, when the bloody (LOUD) fire alarm went off.  Fuckin scary.  Whole corridor filled with smoke, evacuating outside thinking what the hell is going on.  Panic.  Turns out some twats thought it would funny to let out a fire extinguisher through our bathroom window.  *sigh*  At least we know the fire alarms work lol.  Welcome to Hertfordshire!!! *Cheesy Grin, Larger Than Life American Advert Accent*

Today was pretty good too.  Started off with a two hour theory lecture. My brains fell out.  (of what I had anywho).  I've started to make friends with my house mates.  I enjoy spending time with them and i think they're getting used to my craziness and fits of hyper activity. lol.  They've even become accustomed to my odd shoes. :)

And now I'm really looking forward to tomorrow

I saw the plough at ten pm, and now I'm off to bed
I'll sing my lungs out in the morn, but now I rest my head :)
